The Fine Arts Department is excited to announce the regional award winners of the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the country's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for creative students in grades 7–12. This year, more than 2,200 artworks were submitted by teens across Eastern Kansas. Four hundred ninety creative teens from Eastern Kansas received regional honors, including Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, and American Visions & Voices nominations. Award recipients’ work was recognized by a panel of creative professionals as the most outstanding work submitted among their peers.

The Eastern Kansas Scholastic Artwork Awards will be on exhibition at Mark Arts in Wichita, KS, at 1307 N. Rock Road from Friday, February 7 – Saturday, March 29. Galleries are open to the public 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. The opening reception will be held Friday, February 7, from 4 – 6 p.m. featuring live music. All are welcome!
Scholarship and Award Ceremony will be held Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. The ceremony will feature a keynote speaker, scholarship and cash award information, award recognition, and the College Open House.

Basketball games are a go for tonight at De Soto with normal start times. JV boys and girls at 4pm with girls and boys varsity to follow in main gym and c-team in the auxiliary gym.
Crews need additional time to clear snow, and some bus routes are not drivable. We want to prioritize everyone’s safety; therefore, classes are cancelled for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, due to ongoing winter weather conditions.
